Summary: This knowledge article describes the steps to find software version numbers on the following Garmin avionics devices:

G500/600 series
Garmin GTN series
G1000
G2000, G3000, G5000 series

G500/600:
The display type and main software information appears on the initial power up screen before you select Enter or Continue. IE. Initializing System -> FPGA: Main 2.1, I/O 2.1 GDU 620 System Software which is the the display type.
G500/600 Main and System Type

The GDU software version information is displayed as GDU Versionnear the top right of the MFD.
x.xx. 6.11, 6.21 and 7.00 are the most common current versions.
Directly to the right, the software P/N displays with an alphanumeric string similar to 006-Bxxxx-xx.
You may disregard the software P/N.

G500600GDUSWVersion


GTN series:
The display and main software information appears on the initial power up screen before you select Enter or Continue. The software version information is displayed near the top left underneath the Garmin logo.
It will display as Main SW: x.xx with GPS: x.xx directly below.
You are only concerned with the Main SW.
Common current software levels are 5.00 and 5.13.

G1000:
Open the aux page group of the MFD after power on, highlight the LRU list with the FMS knob then scroll down to PFD 1. The LRU software will be listed and could range anywhere from 9.xx to 15.xx depending on airframe OEM and the main system software displayed on the MFD splash/profile screen.

LRU  version

G2000, G3000, G5000 series:
Software version information can be found from the GTC in Utilities>System info>Avionics Status> LRU info> (L or R)PFD. TheLRU version will be displayed under the version header on the right.
