PROBLEM:
The following error occurs when installing Jeppesen Distribution Manager (JDM) Windows:

"An error occurred during the installation of assembly Microsoft.VC90.CRT. version= 9.0.30729.6161"

CAUSE:
Corruption in Windows installer or .Net framework.

RESOLUTION:

  1. To ensure that runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries required to run applications developed with Visual C++ are on the computer, install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) or Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) depending on whether your computer is x64 or x86.
  2. If the problem continues, check that the Windows Installer service is running on the computer and is set to manual startup mode.
    1. From the Windows Start Menu, type services.msc in the search box, then press Enter.
    2. In the Services (Local) list, right-click Windows Installer, then click Properties.
    3. If the Startup type drop-down list is set to a value of Disable, select the Manual option from the Startup type drop-down list, then click OK.
    4. Click the File menu, then click Exit.
    5. Restart the computer and install Jeppesen Distribution Manager (JDM).
  3. If the problem continues, reset the .NET Framework by following the steps below:
    1. Open Control Panel. Click the Start button, click Control Panel.
    2. Open Programs and Features.
    3. Select Turn Windows features on or off.
    4. Uncheck the box next to .NET Framework 3.5.
    5. Select OK and restart the computer.
    6. After the restart, return to the Turn Windows features on or off menu.
    7. Check the box next to .NET Framework 3.5.
    8. Select OK and restart the computer.
    9. Install Jeppesen Distribution Manager (JDM).
  4. If the problem continues, download and run the Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool to troubleshoot and repair all installations of the .NET Framework.
