In the United States, the FAA will implement SID/STAR procedures which serve multiple airports within a given region. When this occurs, Jeppesen has the option to either produce a separate chart for each individual airport OR; to depict the procedure serving multiple airports on a single instrument procedure chart.

The single SID/STAR instrument procedure chart serving multiple airports is referred too, by Jeppesen, as an 'Also Serves' chart. The 'Also Serves' chart is located in the paper airway manual with the primary airport for which the SID/STAR procedure is established. For example, the KCLT LIINN 3 Arrival serves additional airports aside from KCLT. These additional airports are listed on the KCLT LIINN 3 Arrival chart (10-2F) in the procedure notes box.

The question then becomes "How do I know that I need to look for my SIDs/STARs at KCLT if I am flying to/from one of the other airports in the 'Also Serves' list such as KIPJ?"

The answer depends on the product being used to view the SID/STAR charts. Customers using a paper manual or the e-link online chartviewer application, will need to refer to the airport diagram chart (ie 10-9, 9A) and look for a SID/STAR cross reference note. For example, the KIPJ 10-9 airport diagram chart tells the operator "For STARs and DPs see Charlotte, N Car (Charlotte/Douglas Intl)". This tells the operator to look for the SID/STAR procedures serving KIPJ airport at KCLT.

Aside from 'e-link online chartviewer', most other electronic apps. designed for chart viewing are capable of displaying a single instrument procedure chart at multiple locations. Using the example from above, the KCLT LIINN 3 Arrival chart (10-2F) can be selected and displayed, from the electronic application's list of charts, at each of the airports included on the 'Also Serves' list (Note #4). This eliminates the need for pilot's to search for the cross reference note on the airport diagram chart. For example, when the operator uses their electronic app. to search for charts at KIPJ, the applicable SID/STAR charts (at KCLT) will be automatically included in the list of available charts.

Essentially the application is using a data table to link the chart at one location (ie KCLT) to another location (ie KIPJ) which makes things much easier and more logical for the operator.
