PROBLEM:
When loading a charts update into a Collins Aerospace Pro Line system, the file transfer fails around 20-99% into the loading process. One of the following errors may be displayed:
ERROR: UPLOADING ABORTED BY TARGET : validating load -CRC Mismatch on /mnt/FSU_ChartsDB/charts.bin
ERROR: UPLOADING ABORTED BY TARGET: FILE/MNT/FSU CHARTSDB/CHARTS.BIN RECEIVED FAILURE
ERROR: UPLOADING ABORTED BY TARGET: FILE/MNT/FSU_CHARTSDB/CHRTL-ONK.DBF RECEIVED FAILURE
ERROR: UPLOADING ABORTED BY TARGET: FILE/MNT/FSU_CHARTSDB/CHARTS.DBF RECEIVED FAILURE
CAUSE:
This can occur if one of the charts database files is a specific size that the Pro Line cannot process correctly, or if the database is too large for the Pro Line unit:
Allowable File Size:
Pro Line 21: 689 MB
Pro Line Fusion: 742 MB
If you subscribe to a Worldwide coverage, the charts database may exceed the maximum allowable filesize listed above. In this case, follow the steps below to subset/filter the coverage to a smaller size.
If you do not have a Worldwide coverage, one of the charts database files may be of a specific size the Pro Line cannot process correctly. In this case, follow the steps below to subset/filter the coverage to a slightly different size.
RESOLUTION:
Try changing the file size slightly using the charts subsetting feature in Jeppesen Distribution Manager, then re-transfer the charts database to the storage device.
- Click Select Coverage for the Pro Line charts service.
- Select an area on the map so the data size listed under Subset Coverage is different than the data size listed under Subscription Coverage, as shown in the screenshot below. NOTE: It's possible to filter the airports by either runway length, or by geographical region (or both at the same time). Filtering by runway length may be a better option for operators with larger aircraft that cannot make use of shorter runways.
- Click Save, then Clear the cacheby clicking JDM > Tech Support > Clear Cacheat the top-left of the application. After, transfer the data to the device again.
- After the transfer is complete, remove the charts subset selection for future updates by clicking Edit Coverage, then Clear Selection, then Save.
