What is the difference between the Polar Orientation Chart and Plotting Charts
The main difference between the Polar Orientation Chart and Plotting Charts is the grid shown on the chart.
All Plotting Charts have a one-degree grid while the Polar Orientation Chart has a five-degree grid due to it's map projection.
The five degrees are used because all the longitudes join at the north pole and this would cause a cluttered chart.
The Polar Chart is called a Orientation chart because a plotting chart requires the one degree grid.
The chart should be used for orientation purposes only and not for navigation.
