PROBLEM:
Font anomalies appear on terminal charts printed to a PDF using JeppView for Windows.
CAUSE:
The novaPDF utility included with the installation of JeppView for Windows is not embedding the Jeppesen-specific fonts when creating the PDF.
RESOLUTION 1:
Under the “properties” of the “novaPDF SDK v7” printer option go to the “fonts” tab and ensure the following are selected:
- Embed font subsets
- Embed all used fonts
- Force embedding of protected fonts
This will correct the fonts issue. These settings will be saved for all future use of the novaPDF printer. The settings are saved in C:\Users\(current user)\AppData\Roaming\Softland\novaPDF\novaPDF for SDK v7.nvl .
RESOLUTION 2:
Try using another 'Print to PDF' utility, such as Microsoft Print to PDF, PDFCreator or cutePDF. In JeppView for Windows, instead of clicking 'Save as PDF...', select 'Microsoft Print to PDF', PDFCreator or cutePDF in the list of printers to print directly to that utility. Clicking 'Save as PDF...' will always use NovaPDF.
