Unable to access or display Jeppesen charts on a Garmin multifunction display

PROBLEM:
Unable to access or display Jeppesen charts on a Garmin multifunction display.

CAUSE:
Jeppesen ChartView has not been activated on the multifunction display or a valid Jeppesen charts database is not present on the storage media. In this case, the multifunction display will revert to using Garmin FliteCharts for the charts and airport diagrams, and the "Disables" date on the Power-up Page will refer to the FliteCharts database. You can determine if this is the case by looking at the Database box on the AUX - System Status page:

RESOLUTION:
Ensure ChartView has been activated on the display, and that a valid Jeppesen charts database resides on the storage media. If ChartView has not been activated, contact Garmin to obtain a ChartView unlock card.

CAUSE:
The region of the navigation database installed on the display does not include the airport(s) you are attempting to display charts for. In order to display a chart, the navigation database installed on the display must include the airport. If the coverage area of your Jeppesen charts subscription has recently changed (e.g. adding a trip kit), your navigation database may need to be changed to a different region that includes the airport.

RESOLUTION:
Check the Database box on the AUX - System Status page to see the region for the navigation database. Contact Jeppesen Sales Support if you need to change your navigation database to another region.]

CAUSE:

A worldwide navigation database is loaded on the display, which does not include airports with a longest runway less than 4000 feet. Beginning with Cycle 1602 (effective February 4, 2016), Garmin restricts the number of airports included on the Worldwide Navigation Database, based on the length of the longest runway. Heliports and Airports that do not contain a runway of greater than 4000 feet will be excluded from the Worldwide Navigation Database. All associated data with excluded airports (communication frequencies, approaches, runways, etc.) will also be excluded. In order to display a chart, the navigation database installed on the display must include the airport.

RESOLUTION:
Refer to
Garmin Service Advisory 1604 for additional information.
