Adobe Digital Editions requires the Vendor ID when opening an e-book

PROBLEM:
When attempting to open an eBook in Adobe Digital Editions, it is asking for a Vendor ID.

CAUSE:
e-books purchased through Jeppesen are protected using Adobe Content Server (ACS) digital rights management (DRM). When opened in a ACS DRM compatible reader, the user will be prompted to enter their Adobe ID. The Adobe ID can be created directly within most ACS DRM compatible reader applications or through the Adobe website. In addition to asking for the Adobe ID and password, some ACS DRM compatible readers, including Adobe Digital Editions, will have the option to select a Vendor ID. In the case of Jeppesen eBooks, this field should be set to Adobe ID.

RESOLUTION:
Go to the Help menu in ADE > Authorize Computer. It will bring up an option to select the eBook Vendor. This “Vendor” in our case is Adobe ID and then the username/password can be entered in below that. Once complete the download should progress and complete as normal.
