Any of the following scenarios can cause a "No Jeppesen Aviation Database" error on a Garmin 400/500 series GPS:
-
The Jeppesen NavData card was not inserted into the correct slot, or was inserted in the incorrect orientation. The Jeppesen NavData card must be inserted into the left-hand slot, with the label facing left (for GNS 400 series) or the label facing up (for GNS 500 series). The right-hand slot is only for the TAWS/Terrain card, or a dummy card that is used to keep debris out of the slot.
-
A non-WAAS card (green label) is being used in a WAAS unit (silver or orange label cards) or vice versa.
-
Attempting to use a helicopter-specific NavData database in a unit that does not have version 4.00 or later software. The helicopter-specific database requires version 4.00 or later software on the GNS400/500W.
