SUMMARY: This knowledge article informs about the Eff abbreviation on specific Jeppesen Terminal Charts.

Electronically updating terminal charts follows the same rules as updating terminal charts with a paper subscription. When a DVD is received in the mail or an update is available for download online, the charts in that update are effective immediately upon receipt.

The exception is when there is an effective date on the chart, which could be mid cycle. In these cases, there is an effective date shown with white lettering within black blocks along with the issue date printed on the chart. This is notated by Eff in front of the date in the top strip of the chart (shown as Eff 20 Aug for the image below). Continue to use the previous chart until the effective date due to critical changes which likely occur on that particular day.
