The Default Coverages are only used for the charting module to view charts. Airport retrieval is based on the airports contained within the selected coverages.

The CIC Reference Coverage is used when inserting charts into Ground Controls. You can only insert charts for airports that are in the selected reference coverage. When you add custom charts, Ground Controls checks the index number that you enter against the reference coverage area you select. The application makes sure that index numbers are unique and that you do not have any duplicate files. Ground Controls also uses this number to check the airport ICAO code that you selected.

The reference coverage is used to help mitigate duplicate files and gather airport data. However, a custom chart file is applied to all coverages that include the airport to which the file is associated.

Ground Controls requires you to select reference coverage area for your custom charts the first time you insert them. You can change the coverage area at any time. Only coveragesbeginning with "E" or "T" are supported. For best practice, the CIC Reference Coverage selected should be either the Jeppesen Standard or Tailored coverage assigned to your Distribution Groups in JDM Pro.
